Okra with bacon

>> Aug 12, 2011

Quick dish
I seem to be positing lots of easy, quick dishes, especially for working moms. :-) I hope this is helpful...

I have posted about health benefits of steaming veggies that you may have read

Okra is one of my favourite veggies.  Wash and clean the okra, trim off the upper stem and cut into 2 or 3, cross-wise, about 4 - 5cm. Steam for 7-10 mins till fork tender but still firm.
While the okra is steaming, heat the pan and brown 2 slices of bacon till crisp.
Dish up bacon, cool a little and break them into smaller pieces or using a scissors, cut small.
When okra is ready, remove them onto a serving plate, and sprinkle with crisp bacon.

I love steamed okra, the natural sweetness of okra without salt. Try it.

Ok-ok…it doesn’t sound that healthy with bacon added :-D

Your okra dish looks delicious! Yes, you are right, steamed okra is really good! Love it! I have a batch of okra right from my garden, sitting in the fridge, will have to cook them soon. Have not been doing much cooking this week! Have a lovely weekend!

@kitchen flavours
I do envy your green fingers! Veggies from you own garden always taste better anytime.

@Raven
Please try, it's very simple and quick :-)
